One city, creatively captured in beautifully crafted coffee-table books that celebrate the creative electricity.

The Columbus Book Project highlights art, fashion, and diversity in Columbus. The series of two books feature dozens of local artists, businesses, initiatives and events, and makes bold use of color, texture and stunning photography.

Services provided:

Art direction

Digital design
Print design
Presentation design

The Brand Service was approached during CBP’s initial crowdfunding phase. We initially provided strategy insights and produced miscellaneous graphics for social media and the Kickstarter campaign.

We reached our funding goal much faster than expected, and began collaborating with a diverse team of artists, designers, authors and photographers.

Our primary responsibility was to act as the “big-picture” art directors for the entire project, as well as on a small, story-by-story basis. Our process included receiving a rough outline for a feature story, working with the photography team to establish a concept, followed by art direction for the photoshoot.

As is the nature of crowdfunded projects, time was a factor. We expanded our team and worked with a team of freelance designers to handle the sheer volume of content. The finished book came to be over 500 pages, and had over 200 contributors, all based in Columbus, Ohio.
